The University of California San Diego Mixed housing Project is a project that includes multiple buildings that will be used for graduate teachers/family housing. The housing will include 853 Units for graduate students. Each of the micro units will include a single bath and one room (bedroom and kitchen combined). The Teachers/family housing will include 252 units that include 44 one bedroom apartments, 166 two bedroom apartments and 42 three bedroom apartments. There will also be a 5 floor parking lot with 866 spaces available to accommodate the new tenants.
HPS is a subcontractor to Hensel Phelps Construction. All plans and specifications are designed to provide a fast tracked and pre-fabricated installation of the plumbing systems. This is a 100% BIM design project with daily coordination from our in-house CAD department. HPS is facilitating/running the clash and BIM coordination efforts for this project.

This project consists of the following three separate components:
The Nuevo West Graduate Student Housing project would redevelop the existing low-density housing located between One Miramar Street Apartments and the new Mesa Nueva Housing (currently under construction) at North Mesa. The proposed project would provide a minimum of 800 new beds for the campus, arranged in 2 and 4 bedroom apartments in low and high rise buildings. The proposed project would include meeting/study rooms, laundry facilities, fitness gym, a roof deck gathering space and a small retail space for a coffee shop or café. The project will connect the existing One Miramar Street Graduate Housing and the new Mesa Nueva Graduate Housing. The low density apartments currently on site, consisting of 100 beds in six buildings, would be demolished.
A shared parking structure would be constructed across the street north of the Mesa Nueva project (currently under construction) and would provide parking for residents of Mesa Housing and staff parking for employees of the UC San Diego Health System. The number of spaces will be a minimum of 1,244 which will include ADA spaces, electrical vehicle charging spaces, and motorcycle spaces. The proposed parking structure is located in surface parking lot P783 north of Miramar Street, between Mesa Housing and the UC San Diego Health System.
Patient Family House North
The Patient Family House North is a separate program created to accommodate needs of family and relatives of patients being treated at the UCSD Medical Center. The program consists of 15 – 2 bedroom apartments, 25 hotel style rooms, community kitchen and laundry facilities, common areas and parking spaces. Integrating the program for the Patient Family House North and the Nuevo West Graduate Student Housing will be a requirement of the Design Build teams.
